The Lies Women Believe
September 18th, 2007 · No Comments
Please join us for an informal women’s study that will uncover the lies Christian women believe. In her book Lies Women Believe, Nancy Leigh DeMoss exposes areas of deception common to many Christian women — lies about God, sin, priorities, marriage and family, emotions, and more. She deals honestly with women’s delusions and illusions and then gently leads them to the truth of God’s word that leads to true freedom.
There will be a couple of chapters assigned to read on your own each month and then we will have discussion (and coffee!) about what we read during the Saturday meeting. This is an incredible study and an easy to read book that has some eye opening truths from scripture!
- When: Beginning Saturday, September 22nd 8:30-10:00 a.m.
- And then. . .Saturday, October 20th
- Saturday, November 10th
- Saturday, December 15th
- Where: Cafe Diem, Ankeny - Subsequent locations in Polk City to be determined
The first Saturday we will have a panel of women to answer any questions you might have concerning issues women face today. You can email your questions to sheryl at sheryl@lakesidefellowship.com or simply ask on Saturday. It will be a great time of prayer, fellowship, and learning for the women of Lakeside!
This Bible study will be held one Saturday each month for the ladies of Lakeside Fellowship. (Of course you are encouraged to invite friends and family! ) Books will be available for purchase this Saturday at Cafe Diem. If you can not make it this Saturday, but are interested in attending in the future, please contact Jen Diers at jenniferdiers@mchsi.com or 515-450-7283. You are welcome to join the study at any time, but will want to purchase a book so you can follow along with the reading. Sorry, child care is not provided.
Men’s Retreat
August 9th, 2007 · 2 Comments
There comes a time in every man’s life where he needs to get away for a weekend of golf, friends, spiritual enrichment and of course the Iowa/Iowa St. football game! If that describes you, you’re in luck because such an event is happening September 14 and 15.
Join us on Friday for a fun filled golf outing at the challenging Honeycreek Golf Course in Boone. We’ll be playing a best ball format in four man teams. Bring your “A” game to win some great prizes. Or bring your “B” and “C” game to relax and have a great time. You can form your own team or contact us and we’ll place on one with some other terrific guys.
Friday evening and Saturday we’ll be relaxing at the Iowa Regular Baptist Camp in Clear Lake. We’ll be challenged to be better men and fathers by Phillip DeCourcy - a dynamic speaker and pastor from Toledo Ohio. Our main goal and purpose in holding this retreat is that we as men will become sharpened followers of Christ and greater leaders in our churches and families.
While at the camp there is plenty to do including: jet skiing, basketball, football, mini-golf, frisbee-golf, swimming, table-tennis, and much more!
And since we wouldn’t want anyone to miss out on the biggest event in Iowa we’ll be setting up a monster screen to project the Iowa/Iowa St football game. Bring your school colors and passion!
