Life Stories-Bob Sweeny

November 20th, 2007

bob sweenyMy life prior to my salvation included drinking, partying, and cussing. I hated going to church if I did go. I rebelled against God and my family.

I was feeling lost and scared for a while after my grandmother’s death about a year ago and knew I needed a change in my life but resisted it. Last May I went to Las Vegas, where my brother lives. He gave me a book “One Last Heartbeat” by Mark Cahill. It took me a couple of months to read but thank God I did. It changed my life forever.

I was about 3/4 of the way through the book on my back porch in about June. I realized I needed Jesus in my life. He was what I was lacking and was why I felt lost and scared. I had known a lot of Bible stories and verses from growing up in a good Christian home but never had accepted Jesus into my life. I knew I needed to do this because He died on the cross for me. So I accepted Jesus into my life that night on my back porch and my life hasn’t been the same since.

Since my salvation, I have quit drinking and cussing. I love going to church. I try to do all the church activities and ministries I can. I am more loving towards my family. I’m trying to do all that I can for God, because of what He has done for me, even though it’s not enough

What a blessing to Bob’s dad and I to know that our son is now a child of the KING!! It was a blessing to see him obey the Lord in the waters of baptism, and we pray every day that he continues to follow the Lord the rest of his life. I have no greater job than to know that my children walk with the Lord. AMEN!

    Bob,

It was so neat to hear from your heart. Bob and I went to church together as kids and I never knew him very well. Bob was always kind of quiet and to read his testimony of how Jesus has saved him just points me to what an awesome God we have! It just overwhelms me to think that he died for wretcehd man like me. Bob, keep to looking to him and I will make it a point to be praying for you. Shoot me an email sometime maybe we can get together.
